Presented in partnership with the Chicago Park District’s “Night Out In the Parks” program, Roots of Black Dance in America is a popular in-school program that the Joel Hall Dancers present as part of their partnership with Urban Gateways. This child-friendly, interactive performance traces African dance influences on popular American dances throughout history. It illustrates through movement how dance can unite us all, and reminds us that American culture comes from many sources.
